LocalGov Drupal

LocalGov Drupal is the publishing platform built by councils for councils — a cooperative effort of UK local authorities sharing one codebase for service pages, news, directories and guides, with accessibility and plain content patterns baked in.

What ships on BOA

The LGV platform is rebuilt from the upstream Composer template as BOA releases ship, following the 4.x line on the current Drupal 11 core. The build uses the project's drupal.org packaging (the drupal/localgov_project template) — the packaging the project moved to in 4.x — so what you get is exactly what the cooperative currently publishes, with the standard web/ docroot.

Installing a site on it

Create a site on the LocalGov platform with the localgov profile; the install lands on a working site that greets you with its login page. Log in and the LocalGov content types, patterns and editorial roles are already in place.

Good to know

• A LocalGov site on BOA runs on your own infrastructure choice — the platform doesn't tie you to any particular cloud, which tends to matter in council procurement. The stack underneath is the same hardened Nginx + Percona + Valkey every BOA site gets.
